Zero Suicide in Health and Behavioral Health Care: Results of a State-Based Initiative

April 1, 2016 - 3:00pm
Chicago, Illinois
Annual Conference of the American Association of Suicidology

In 2014 the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, in partnership with the National Council for Behavioral Health, held a Breakthrough Series intended to provide individual and group coaching to help provider organizations and state systems accelerate Zero Suicide implementation. Each team included a state-level governmental agency and a provider; six teams were selected to participate. This presentation will provide an overview of the Zero Suicide framework and  we will discuss the application and results of the breakthrough series as well as lessons learned for state suicide prevention or health care leaders looking to launch or strengthen an evolving Zero Suicide initiative.  Two state leaders, who participated in the breakthrough series and both of whom oversee successful Zero Suicide initiatives, will share their experiences.
